Shrove Tuesday (also known as Pancake Tuesday and Pancake Day)

It's the day where one is given official sanction to eat all the rich foods in the house before the ritual fasting of Lent!!!

In the past it used to be a way to use up any stocks of milk, butter and eggs which were forbidden during the abstinence of Lent.

                

 


There are many Pancake Day races around the UK, Just grab a frying pan, an apron and get involved in one of the races!!!

Ingredients

We used a basic pancake recipe that serves 4 to 6, which can easily be halved: 

• 250g plain flour
• 1/4 teaspoon of salt
• 2 large eggs
• 500ml milk

You'll also need butter for frying, and caster sugar and fresh lemons to serve (if desired).
