Throughout this pandemic, a lot of people are trying to improve their health, but sometimes they don't know where to start. In my opinion, looking for a healthy lifestyle is the best way to do it.
A healthy lifestyle keeps your
organism balanced and doesn't cause illnesses or malaise to you.
An example of that is The Mediterranean one because
more than defending a balanced diet, it also gives importance to activities
such as:
- Socializing with family and friends and sharing the meals with
them;
- Doing daily exercise, even though it isn't
necessary to go to the gym to do it. This lifestyle defends that going to
work or a friend’s house on foot regularly is, usually, enough;
- Laughing often and enjoying living these are
particularly important to preserve mental health. I mean, it doesn't
matter having a balanced diet if you aren't happy;
In my opinion, what I have just mentioned are the
most significant behaviours from The Mediterranean lifestyle, but I cannot deny
that the diet matters too and, if you want to follow this lifestyle, it is
crucial follow these points:
- Eat vegetables, fruits, nuts, greens,
potatoes, bread, fish, and extra virgin olive oil.
- Eat-in moderation: Eggs, cheese, and yoghurt.
- Rarely eat red meat.
Does this sound familiar to you? Of course it does! These points are the result of observing the food
wheel or pyramid, and we can notice something else, for example, avoid:
- Trans fats: Found in margarine;
- Refined oils;
- Processed meat: Processed sausages;
This diet is not too restricted since
you can eat the main kinds of food, and it also advises prioritizing regional
foods.
I think that, if you are trying to improve your
health, this lifestyle is an awesome choice.
However, there are other good options, therefore, when you chose a lifestyle, you should be careful and in case you have any doubts, ask a nutritionist and only like that you will be sure that you got the right answer.
